How do football players take the beating?

Walking in to our favorite restaurant today, my daughter was holding my hand and skipping. She tripped and went down on her knees. As that happened, I tripped over her feet. I landed on my hands and thought I was OK, then instantly my face hits the ground. I hear a big bang noise. I would like to think that my sixth sense knew my daughter was OK allowing me to blank out a few seconds. I was stunned and not sure if I could get up. A looked up and a kind woman was asking me if I was OK. Then I see my husband and other daughter coming back. I tried to get up, but it was slow. I could feel my lip pounding where it hit the ground directly. I had a napkin in my purse and began dabbing my lip, noticing some hard pieces coming from somewhere. Still stunned, we went on into the restaurant and the lady that helped me asked the staff to get me some ice. I was still shaking and went into the bathroom. As I examined my face, I figured out where the hard pieces came from. My tooth. I have a tooth that USED to stick out a little. Now 1/4 of it is gone.

We are home now and painkillers are working their way into my system. My palms are sore, my right knee and elbow scrapped, my upper right lip slightly swollen, my comfortable $8 Wal-Mart shoes are scuffed, and my wussy-ness confirmed.

Update: Looks like gravity struck someone else also!

Update on 2/24: I was able to get into the dentist this morning and spent about 2.25 hours getting fitted for a crown and had a temporary put on. All the messing with my tooth did not help my swollen lip and made it worse. But that all does not matter! I don't need a ROOT CANAL!!!

Bad luck Amy. Too bad about the tooth. One of mine broke late last year and cost me about $1500.

{hugs} I hate when that happens. I had some bruises on my arms from when on a branch when chasing my son. I wanted to wear long sleeves so no one would see them! Get better soon.
