Thrown Under the Bus

It started out with surprise. Is this really happening?

Next, I gotta get out from under the bus. Then somethings keeps you under and you just can't get away. Someone pulls you back under.

When you finally do get away, you are so mad. How could that happen?

Then your stomach is upset. The stress is just to much.

So today I was not really "thrown under the bus", but after a meeting, I know why the phrase is used.

Oh, then you add in the replay. And think about what you could have done different. If I had just worn different shoes, it could have run away. If I had made a bus shield (been prepared), I would have never been thrown under that bus.

If I had said this... or even better that. Arg! Why didn't I think of it then?

Is that the same as being hit by a truck? You sound like me in that I think about things to say when it is too late. I hope things turn out okay.
